The time we spent the winter collecting sap thanks to Ambler Farm’s Tap-a-Tree Maple Sugaring Program

As a kid growing up in Hawaii, I would dream about what it would be like to live in New England. Some ideas were probably pretty spot on, involving kids cheering on the Boston Red Sox while eating hot dogs. Others, like kids hiking in over a foot of snow to collect buckets of sap […]

Congrats everyone! We’ve made it through to December 2020. Some states are back in lockdown, although fortunately, Hawaii is doing okay comparatively. While the vaccine has just starting to be supplied to the medical community and some extremely at-risk individuals, we will be nowhere near normal by Christmas. So Kani Kanoa Creative and Farmer’s Insurance […]

Visiting Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii during the Coronavirus Pandemic

If you were to tell me five-months ago (circa July 2020), that I would eventually visit Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii not once but twice before the pandemic was over, I would have called you crazy. Not to knock Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii, but I just didn’t see how a water park, which by its very […]

I am constantly amazed at how organizations and businesses in Hawaii have pivoted and found such creative ways to be there for charities, small businesses, families, and each other while making everyone’s health and safety a top priority. Such is the case with Show Aloha Land, a spectacular light show sponsored by First Hawaiian Bank. […]

If you told me a month ago that I would spend the beginning of November counting down the days until my reservation for the Waimanalo Country Farms’ Drive Thru Sunflower Event, I would have thought you were crazy. But that was before I experienced their drive-thru pumpkin event. October was a pretty busy month for […]

Visiting Disney’s Aulani during the Covid-19 Pandemic

| All Things Disney, Hawaii Activities

Going on vacation in 2020 means that when you return home the big question everyone wants to know isn’t “how was the weather?” or “what did you see?” Instead, the question I got from everyone was, “how did Aulani handle keeping everyone safe during the Covid-19 pandemic?” Aulani does a great job of laying everything […]

Happy International Women’s Day! Okay, in full disclosure this maaaay be a Girls Day post that I am 5 days late in posting, but I’m going with it.
Has it really been 1 year? 1 year since our family dusted off our tent and packed our bags to join 30 other families for an awesome camping trip in Kaneohe? When I wasn’t packing, I was spending my free time learning about that crazy new disease called the Coronavirus. It hadn’t quite caused a scare in Hawai’i yet, although we were worried about troubling news of spiking cases on the mainland. At the end of the trip, 1 family had offered to store all the paper goods for the 2021 camping trip and my own husband, appalled by how non-glamperific our own tent-area was in comparison... quickly made a list and purchased all of his “necessary” updates for the next year. Here’s hoping we get to try out our new purchases soon!
When my two favorite takeaway places decide to do a collab together for Valentine’s Day... of course I had to jump onboard the @restaurantsenia @barleatherapron ordering bandwagon.
My newest curbside pick up experience was sooo good! KCC’s Ka’Ikena restaurant continues to bring their A game even during the pandemic. I needed a picture of just the fish because it was so delicious. I know I shouldn’t be surprised because in normal times this place is absolutely amazing. I just remember back to my time in college (in a major far removed from the culinary arts... because I can’t even toast bread without problems) and there isn’t any assignment I ever completed that would come close to knocking it out of the park like these students do! ❤️❤️❤️
I love love love Super Bowl parties! Truth be told I’m not really the hugest football fan (despite cheering for it for 3 years in high school 🤫), but I love the super expensive commercials, beer, and party appetizers. So I figured I wasn’t going to let a little thing like not going to a party spoil my fun this year. So in addition to watching all the commercials on YouTube we also ordered @feast808 Super Bowl party pack of lobster rolls and cheesesteaks and it was heavenly bliss.
We finally got around to trying @chefchaipacifica wiki wiki box and it was awesome. 8 entrees 2 salads and 2 desserts for $120. It was a perfect and delicious solution to a hectic week. Curbside pickup in the Pacifica parking lot and 2.5 minutes in the microwave and you are set for days... with minimal cleanup too. 🤗 I’m so sad to be cooking for myself again now that I’m out of entrees.
