Tip of the day: 🪄constant vigilance 🪄
Being the snobby local that I am, I actually didn’t think I’d spend a lot of time out on the balcony at the Sheraton Waikiki. For starters, I opted for the cheapest view (since I wanted to get as close as possible to the $300 credit that came with my Bonvoy credit card). But I ended up loving our balcony! I would race out to watch the sunset and enjoy breakfast out there in the mornings. If this last year has taught me anything, it’s to stop taking for granted the island I worked so hard to move back to.
I first made my way to Mother Waldron Park on Tuesday to try out the delicious looking Restaurant Week option from @la_birria_hi. It was so good that I ended up back there today… in the rain ☔️... because that’s how amazing they are.
Caring about my status in a hotel loyalty program is a very new experience for me. For most of my traveling life I never bothered to sign up for the hotel memberships or if I did, I rarely bothered to input my membership number. 😱 In the words of Julia Roberts circa Pretty Woman, “Big mistake! Big! Huge!”
Me in 2019: wow that’s pretty cool that so many people travel hack free trips to Hawai’i. I’ll learn their ways and do the opposite... I’ll use rewards to leave the islands. 😍🤗
